Here is the article i read in it’s entirety.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19998286/
so, if i read this right, i can sue my boss for asking me to do my job, or i can just go get someone else to do it for me, as long as my religion disagrees w/ whatever you are asking me to do.
if you don’t want to distribute medication, then you should not be a pharmacist. it is that simple. i want to be clear…i have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM w/ someone having different religious beliefs, or different views than me. if you wanna be anti-choice, go ahead. if you want to be christian or jewish or mormon, more power to you. religious tolerance is a gift we have, and should bestow openly. i myself am pagan, w/ a strong emphasis on wicca. i think we should all be allowed to believe what we want. what i DON’T believe in is using your religious beliefs to lessen the choices i have. you should not be able to deny me BASIC MEDICAL CARE based on those beliefs. you should not be able to make laws telling me what to do w/ MY body based on those beliefs. (and some out there would say ‘but it isn’t your body’, and again i would say, that is YOUR belief, not mine)
if you don’t want to allow a raped woman to prevent an unwanted pregnancy, or end one, then why don’t you and your church offer to pay her medical costs, counseling, and raise the baby for her? or better yet, w/ modern technology as advance as it is, why don’t you offer YOUR womb and YOUR body to this cause, and carry and raise this baby yourself?
how can we allow people to claim a right to choose and make laws that prevent the rest of us from doing the same? do i not have a right to walk into a public medical facility and get the care i need? shouldn’t i be able to refill ANY prescription i want at any pharmacy i want?
i live by a rule…no uterus, no opinion. if you don’t have the facilities to grow a baby, don’t tell me how to use mine. if you aren’t willing to grow this child in your own womb, then don’t force me to do the same!!!
emergency contraceptive is just that, a CONTRACEPTIVE. so often confused w/ the abortion pill, it can save a woman the grief of a baby she can’t afford or isn’t ready to be responsible for. i see no laws preventing the sale of viagara. i see noone throwing a fit b/c you can buy orlistat over the counter (i guess it is ok to choose to shit your pants to be skinny, but not to make your own choice about a lifelong commitment to another life)
i am not asking you to change your beliefs, but don’t push them on my body. can i defend only the people i agree w/ when i serve in the military? NO! i do my job. i am just asking everyone else to do theirs.
end rant.
