Ear Candy — All Nostalgia All the Time

The movie Pleasantville was one of my favorite films the year it came out.  I have liked Jeff Daniels for a long time (or as Jax calls him, “Rich Uncle Jeff”.  He’s a good guy to the people of Chelsea, MI), and it is one of the first movies in which I remember seeing Reese Whitherspoon.

My favorite part was the ending montage and closing credits, which featured a (IMHO) wonderful remake of John Lennon’s “Across the Universe”, performed by Fiona Apple.  If I didn’t know better I would think that Lennon had written this song knowing somehow that she would do it some day, b/c she really does it beautifully.  I have yet to find it for download on iTunes, but someday I will.  This is by far one of my favorite Lennon songs (along w/ “Imagine”, which was the nursery theme I had when The Kid was born…too cute!).

Enjoy.

I remember when this movie came out I ran straight to the record shop (ahhh, we still had those in 1998;) and picked up a copy of the soundtrack so that I could, specifically, hear Fiona Apple’s version of Across the Universe. Thanks for the video … and the nostalgia. :)

I remember when this movie came out I went straight to record store (ahhh, the record store–those pre-iPod days when it took work to find music) and bought this soundtrack specifically to hear Fiona Apple’s version of “Across the Universe.” Thanks for the memories!
