So, some of you know I am stranded in Japan, near Tokyo.  The Space A flight that was available had a strict overall weight capacity and our baggage was a little over (you can’t even exceed it by a pound).  Long story short, in order to make sure The Kid got to school and The Guy got to work (and his advancement exam *crosses fingers*) I volunteered to stay behind, because it was either one of us or all of us.  Flights to Korea are fairly rare, and commercial from Japan to Korea is ridiculously high, around $700 for a two hour flight.  So, here I sit, indefinitely.  The up side is that I have had time to catch up on some reading and blogging (you may have noticed).

Same song, different verse.  Here’s what I read.  Share yours in comments.

I am sure I have linked to this before, but I love this post by Jay:  It’s Not About Me.

From Cara:  Six Women Murdered, Three Still Missing, and No One Seems to Notice.

The Red Queen, via Elle PhD:  Where is Aniysah?

Chally: The name’s the thing.

Comrade Physioprof:  Blind Baseball: How Fucking Cool is This? (Answer:  Very)

Renee:  Remembering Hurricane Katrina.

The Angry Black Woman:  On Health Care.

Field Negro:  Don’t worry folks, Nancy Grace will get right on it.

The Guardian (via Liss):  Disabled Sailor defies odds to complete first solo voyage around Britain.

Pam: KS Rep. Lynn Jenkins laughs at uninsured mom and child at forum.  Warning: The comments toward this woman about having the audacity to bring a child in public are sad and disgusting.  Bad enough she is laughed at by her own Representative, but now she is shamed by Pam’s readers for being a single mother.

Vanessa:  Raising a Feminist/Raised a Feminist. Blub Warning! Beautiful.  And, where do I sign us up for this camp?

Leigh Graham (Change.org):  Low-Wage Workers Routinely Cheated.

Courtney:  Feminist Fathering:  ”Cool to the Max”.  Truly Awesome.

Renee:  Stranger slaps crying child in Walmart.  Hitting a child is abuse.  Full Stop.

Lisa Kansas:  When Your Male Privilege Stops Applying to Your Situation it Goes Beyond Inconvenient, Doesn’t It?

Joan Walsh:  The far right says Obama is bad for kids.

Media Matters:  Conservatives on Obama’s Stay in School Speech.

That’s all I’ve got!  Hit me w/ your best shot!
