It’s Memorial Day here, today for us. If I get some peace and quiet and a moment, I have some posts to finish up for Memorial Day. If not, they will go out tomorrow.
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend, and if you are in the U.S. and have a moment I hope you take the time to remember what was given to give you some of what you enjoy today, and who died to make sure you have it.
Moving on.
You know the drill. Turn on your music device of choice, and list the first ten songs that come up. Feel free to blog them yourself, or share them in comments here (I am always looking for new music to download!). So, without further ado:
- Can’t Hold Us Down — Christina Aguilera featuring Lil’ Kim
- Danger Zone — Kenny Loggins
- SBTechno/The System Is Down — homestarrunner.com (I have some strange shit in my iTunes)
- Homebird — Foy Vance
- Sleepwalker — Adam Lambert
- I Hate Everyone — Get Set Go
- So Hot — Wondergirls
- Draw the Line — Aerosmith
- Expectations — Belle & Sebastian
- I Got You Babe — Sonny & Cher
Shall we?
Strongbad Techno
Video: Screen looks like an iPod, and scrolls to “Email”. We see a dude in a red mask with weird green eyes and boxing gloves sitting at a desktop computer checking his email. His email asks him “Hey Strongbad, do you like techno at all? If you do, what kind [sic]. Silent J”. He proceeds to answer the email by describing the way he imagines good techno to be. To have a good baseline beat (do, do, do, do, do, do), and how it “had this other part that came in (doodle-oop-do, doodle-oop-do)”. Then it has to have this fancy high-pitched siren. Of course it has to have the obligatory old movie quotes from some sci-fi movie (The System Is Down, The System Is Down)… And the song he has imagine through typing plays for a few seconds, as he realizes that the lights are flickering on and off…then, the scene cuts to a small, strange, yellow creature with black spots turning the lights on and off, at which point Strongbad walks over and says “The Cheat is grounded”, and tells him that the switch was installed so that he could turn the lights on and off, not so he could “throw lightswitch raves”. Then he invites him to come put that glowstick into his Homestar Runner’s Mt. Dew.

I, too, have had Strong Bad Techno on epic mix cds that I have made! In fact, when A Kevin and I first started dating (so many years ago, when Bowling for Soup roamed the Billboard Top 40, and John Kerry seemed like a viable presidential candidate) I made him an mp3-disc that contained both “The System Is Down” and “Everybody to the Limit (Come on Fhwhdwgads).”
Ah, Strong Bad. Memories.
DON’T MAKE ME PUT TROGDOR ON NEXT WEEK’S!
*ahem*
HSR solidarity, Yo!
Homestar Runner! I haven’t looked at that site in years. I used to love SB’s emails.
